About Us

Munnch was founded in 2023 to combat the plastic pollution crisis, investigating compostable alteratives that could compete with market leading plastics.

Since then, we've undergone two years of product and commercial development. We have also been awarded several scholarship-funded opportunities and taken part in multiple business accelerators.

We are PhD students representing three different schools at the University of Leeds. 

Our expertise lie across the spectrum of soft matter, with Ben in synthetic polymer chemistry, Megan in food colloids and James in materials biophysics. 

We are driven by a shared passion for sustainability, environmental protection and considerate design.

We're working to establish a shared community of designers, makers and manufacturers from small-scale workshops to large-scale industry. Our material can be easily integrated into your manufacture stream without expensive refits.

With more creative minds joining the conversation, we can spread the compostable revolution further, and make real progress towards a future free of plastic pollution!
